Three incredibly average middle school boys known as the “Small Three”—Pyontaro, Hiroshi, and Tsubame—fly entirely under the radar at their school. Their mundane lives take a wild turn when their schoolteacher lends them a mysterious, high-tech disc that connects to a parallel universe. Unbeknownst to them, while their backs are turned, Pyontaro’s affectionate little sister Futaba wanders into the screen and gets sucked straight into the portal. Upon crossing over to rescue her, the boys discover that they have landed in a hyper-realistic, war-torn dystopian Earth overrun by a hostile alien race. Surprisingly, the boys realize that their own cartoonish, 2D-styled bodies grant them god-like superhuman abilities in this ultra-detailed dimension. Teaming up with local human resistance fighters like the college student Segami, the trio must master their bizarre new powers to fight off waves of alien soldiers and mechanical walkers before time runs out to save Futaba.
