Story:
Larry Darrell returns from the battlefields of World War I a changed man. Rejecting the wealthy and comfortable lifestyle that awaits him in America, he postpones his marriage to Isabel and travels to Paris in search of meaning and purpose. As Larry immerses himself in books, philosophy, and simple living, his spiritual journey eventually takes him to India and the Himalayas, where he seeks enlightenment from a wise lama. Years later, Larry reunites with Isabel and old friends, only to discover that their lives have been shaped by ambition, wealth, love, and regret. The film explores the search for happiness, self-discovery, and the true meaning of life, revealing that the path to enlightenment can be as difficult and narrow as a razor’s edge.
