Rick Latimer (Jim Belushi) is a high-school teacher who’s transferred to Brandel High — a troubled, gang- and crime-ridden school — as a kind of punishment after a violent incident.
At Brandel, he faces violent students, drug dealing, gangs, apathy from staff. He tries to bring order: no more drugs, no more violence, no more disruption.
He gets support from the head of security, Jake Phillips (Louis Gossett Jr.).
Major conflict with Victor Duncan (a gang leader) occurs, leading to a showdown after Rick’s reforms provoke resistance and violence.
