Deep in Malaya during the final days of World War II, Allied prisoners are held captive in the brutal Blood Island prison camp under the sadistic commandant Yamamitsu. When the prisoners learn that Japan has surrendered, they fear he will execute them all upon hearing the news. To prevent this, a Dutch planter destroys the camp radio while British officer Lambert and the other prisoners secretly prepare for survival and possible rebellion. As hope and fear collide, the prisoners must risk everything to escape a tragic fate. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
