Plot Summary:
Based loosely on the life of real-life socialite Gertrude “Trudy” Lintz, the film follows her eccentric decision to raise an orphaned gorilla named Buddy as part of her household. As Buddy grows, Trudy attempts to civilize him—teaching him to walk upright, dine at a table, and mingle with other animals. The story explores the complexities of that maternal devotion and its limitations when Buddy begins to exhibit his wild instincts.
