Set in rural Tamil Nadu during the early 1990s, the story unfolds in an environment heavily shaped by rigid caste divisions, local violence, and toxic masculinity. Two childhood friends, Subbu and Karthi, grow up working for a ruthless local henchman father, finding their lives completely tied to a gritty local gang landscape. Their world experiences a massive transformation with the arrival of a compassionate and gentle woman named Dorothy, whose entry acts as a massive turning point that begins to challenge generational prejudices and the emotional suppression expected of men. Following a pivotal marriage, buried secrets, past guilt, and suppressed feelings are forced to the surface, completely upending the bond between the two friends. The film transitions from a raw, rustic gangland first half into a deeply emotional second-half road journey that serves as an exploration of gender identity discovery, self-identity, and familial acceptance.
