Born into a conservative middle-class Marwari family, Hetal Dave constantly faces societal scrutiny and relentless body-shaming due to her weight. While her mother pressures her to lose weight for marriage and relatives push conventional career paths, Hetal harbors an unconventional dream: mastering the sport of sumo wrestling. Backed by her supportive father, she defies deeply entrenched patriarchal expectations and gender biases to pursue rigorous athletic training. Her relentless ambition eventually takes her all the way to Japan to endure grueling, traditional preparation. Facing financial hurdles and a complete lack of institutional support at home, Hetal fights to overcome internal self-doubt and external prejudice. The biographical drama charts her inspiring journey to break stereotypes, conquer the world stage, and establish herself as India’s very first professional female sumo wrestler.
